COOKIES
Cookie Policy
Reviewed 14 October 2026.
1. What cookies do
Cookies are small browser records that help a website remember a setting or understand broad use. Onward uses a preference record named cookieChoice so the consent banner can remember a visitor’s selection. The record normally remains until the visitor clears it.
2. Essential operation
Essential records support navigation, security, and basic presentation. They do not create a personal advertising profile. Some technical records may be created by hosting or security providers for short periods, commonly up to 90 days.
3. Optional analytics
If optional measurement is introduced, it will be requested separately and described before activation. Analytics records may include a page path, approximate region, device category, and timestamp. We intend to use aggregated information to improve content rather than identify individual readers.
4. Preferences
The cookieChoice record stores accept or reject as a local browser value. It is not a login credential and does not contain a name or message. Visitors can remove it through browser settings and will then see the choice banner again.
5. Third parties
Embedded or linked services may set their own records when a visitor chooses to use them. Their practices are governed by their own notices. Onward does not control third-party cookies and recommends reviewing those notices before continuing.
6. Controls
Visitors can reject optional cookies through the banner, block records in browser settings, or delete existing records. Blocking some records may affect convenience but should not prevent access to ordinary editorial pages.
7. Retention
Preference records remain until removed or replaced. Short security records may remain for up to 90 days. If analytics is enabled, retention will be configured with a limited period and described in an updated notice.
8. International processing
Hosting or analytics providers may operate internationally. We seek appropriate contractual and technical safeguards and limit the information shared to what the service needs.
9. Questions
Contact Onward at Jalan Thamrin No. 10, Menteng, Central Jakarta, DKI Jakarta 10310, Indonesia, or +62 813 7489 2560. Include the browser and approximate date if asking about a cookie behavior.
10. Change log
The policy was reviewed 14 October 2026. A 12 September 2026 update clarified the names and purpose of preference records. Future changes will show a new dated entry.
Cookie names and durations
The preference record is named cookieChoice and normally remains for 180 days unless a visitor removes it earlier. A short-lived session record, when required by navigation or security, expires when the browser session ends. A technical security record may use a provider-specific name and may remain for up to 90 days.
If optional analytics is enabled in the future, records may include an anonymous measurement identifier, page path, approximate region, device category, and timestamp. Such records would normally be configured for a period of up to 13 months, subject to the provider’s documented settings and the visitor’s choice. Onward does not intentionally use cookie values to infer sensitive personal details.
Visitors can change their choice by deleting cookieChoice in browser settings or using the site’s consent controls when available. A renewed choice may be requested after 180 days, after a material policy change, or when the consent mechanism is replaced. Rejecting optional records does not remove access to ordinary editorial pages.
Hosting, security, analytics, and embedded services may operate in different countries and may set records under their own notices. Onward reviews those relationships for relevance and disclosure, but cannot control a third party’s independent cookie behavior. Privacy questions can be sent to +62 813 7489 2560; we normally acknowledge them within five business days and respond within 30 calendar days.
This policy was reviewed on 14 October 2026. Material changes will be dated on this page, and records needed to document consent or a security event may be retained separately from browser cookies for up to 24 months.
Cookie details and visitor choices
Onward’s cookie approach applies to first-party preference records, short-lived technical records, and optional measurement that may be introduced later. The preference record is named cookieChoice and stores an accept or reject choice without a name, message, login credential, or advertising profile. It normally remains for 180 days unless the visitor deletes it earlier.
Session records may support navigation or a security check and normally expire when the browser session ends. A technical security record may use a provider-specific name and remain for up to 90 days. Such records can vary by hosting configuration, browser, and security event, and are not used as a substitute for a visitor account.
If optional analytics is enabled, a measurement record may contain page path, approximate region, device category, referrer, and timestamp. The intended retention period is up to 13 months, subject to the provider’s settings and consent choice. We use aggregate information to understand broad reading patterns and do not intentionally combine it with contact-message content.
Visitors can reject optional records through the consent control, block them in browser settings, or delete cookieChoice. Removing the record may cause the notice to appear again. A renewed choice may be requested after 180 days or after a material change to the purposes, providers, or categories described here.
Vercel or another hosting provider may support delivery, while security, analytics, embedded media, or linked services may set records under their own notices. Some providers may process information outside Indonesia. Onward cannot control independent third-party behavior, so visitors should review the relevant notice before activating an external service.
Questions can be sent through the contact page or to +62 813 7489 2560. We normally acknowledge a privacy or cookie enquiry within five business days and respond within 30 calendar days. This policy was reviewed on 14 October 2026; future material changes will be dated and described.
